In literacy we have been studying a book called KrindleKrax by Philip Ridley and have been doing some exciting work about the characters.

Tomorrow we will be writing a diary entry from the character's point of view along side some fun workshops with South Dorset Ridgeway project.
We will post some photos tomorrow ;)

You may have noticed your children coming home with their Mathletics log in's and passwords over the past week. We have been using Mathletics across IPACA to support children's Maths work.

We are very pleased with the positive reaction from pupils using Mathletics both at home and in school - what a hard working bunch you are.

Pupils can access Mathletics through their website, or by downloading the free app for a tablet.

If pupils reach 1000+ points per week (achieved by playing live Mathletics or set tasks in school) they can be awarded a certificate.

Live from Drury Lane

We enjoyed a fantastic live session this afternoon with Drury Lane Theatre in London. We signed in through special live web link. You can watch the live session again here.

We learnt all about how to draw Willy Wonka with no other than Quentin Blake as our teacher - here we are with our great work, and her is some detailed sketched from some of our children! What a fantastic group of artists we have!

We then learnt how to make special blueberry donuts with a live cooking session - Violet Beauregard might enjoy there! (We apologise in advance if all west base children come home wanting to 'experiment' in the kitchen!)

Finally we took part in a massive sing along, accompanied by no other than Charlie Bucket and Willy Wonka - what a fantastic experience.

(Video coming soon....!)

I wonder if any of our West Base students can remember any of the great facts we learnt about the great author Roald Dahl himself? Please let us know!

Prince Pondicherry's Chocolate Palace

Following on from our Chocolate inspired day we have been experimenting with chocolate - sadly not eating it but trying to find out which chocolate melts the fastest, White, milk or dark!

We had to make predictions - which chocolate would melt the quickest and why?

We had some great ideas - milk chocolate might melt the quickest it has more milk in and milk is a liquid not a solid, white chocolate might because it's lighter than the others, We all thought Dark chocolate might melt the slowest - there is no milk in it was the general feelings!

It was pretty tempting watching chocolate sitting on the windowsil melting but in the name of science we all resisted!

Come back soon to find out which chocolate melted the fastest and why!

Drifting down a chocolate river.

Today is all about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This afternoon we are looking forward to taking part in the live event from The Theatre Royale in London.

To get us warmed up for this exciting event, we have been using poetry to describe the amazing journey down the river in Willy Wonkas chocolate factory!

We headed outside, climbed aboard out glistening pink long boards (carved from a boiled sweet of course) and started rowing down the chocolate river!

We were thinking about our senses and using similes to create our poems. Here is some of our work, we hope you like it.
