Theatre company visit and share Portland secrets...

Today, we have been recording our voices with the theatre company for our song about... The Roy dog!

It was really exciting and we had to practice and whisper really carefully to make sure we got the words correct.

We can't wait to listen to how it sounds!

Something fishy going on...

West Base have been fantastically creative with their takeaway homework!

Oliver Webb has made a model of a fish.

He has worked really hard on it and I think you will agree it is fabulous!

Portland Myths and Legends

Today in West base we were really lucky! Carol Hunt, the author of the Portland Sea Dragon, came and told us stories.

It was really exciting, she told us how she came up the ideas for her 'monsters' and used puppets to tell us the stories. We really did enjoy it!

Everyone's a winner

It's all about the taking part. Well done to everyone for giving all our sports day events your very best effort, you were all fantastic!

A fantastic Sports Day in the Sun

Today we enjoyed another great sports day at Osprey Quay Campus.

We made the most of the sunshine and spend the afternoon and morning on the field. With the help of some great Year 6 pupils (thank you to you all, you worked incredibly hard all day) we took part n a number of activities.

Pupils had to compete in the bean bag throw, the javelin, the standing jump (harder than it looks), and running races. It was great fun cheering on our house groups and waiting to see the final point score.

Thank you to all our parents who came along to cheer on our pupils in what was a great day.

West Base and West Base 2 PE Champions

As PE is a specialist subject, we are lucky enough to have both Miss Byrne (West Base) and Mr Thorne (West 2) come in and teach us a range of sporting activities.

Throughout the year both teachers have been looking to see which pupils always give their all and try their very best along with those who have made significant improvements.

At the end of sports day today we celebrated these children. Here are some of our winners with their certificates, well done to all of you, very well deserved.

Kids meet at Downlands Primary School

On Friday a group of IPACA students from Southwell and OQ West Base were lucky enough to attend a KidsMeet at Downlands Primary School.

A KidsMeet is an event where children bring and share technology ideas they use in the classroom. It was wonderful watching pupils from a number of different schools sharing ideas, discussing how they use a range of devices and giving each other tips and advice.

Exploring Google cardboard

Having fun with green screen

Using Water and Makey Makey to play the bongos!

Racing with the spheros (these are definitely on our wish list)

Coding with hopscotch.

We were looked after very well and even got to join in with some summer fair activities including watching the white helmets motorcycle display team. What a great way to end a fun day.

Thank you to Downlands Primary School for looking after us, we had a great day.
